Job summary

Ames Construction, a long‑standing heavy civil contractor, is seeking a Pipe Foreman to lead underground utility crews on major infrastructure projects. You will direct safety, production, and daily work activities to meet plans and schedules.

This role requires at least 5 years in underground utility construction and 2 years leading crews, with OSHA knowledge and a valid driver's license. Travel and fieldwork are expected on site at projects nationwide.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in underground utility construction.
• Minimum of 2 years in leading pipe crews or foreman-like role.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and practices.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment operation.
• Knowledge of trenching, excavation, grading, and utility methods.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to work with power and non-power tools.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Instill Safety as a top priority.
• Lead, direct, and motivate pipe crews in installation of underground utility systems.
• Interpret and execute work per project plans, specs, grades, and standards.
• Coordinate daily crew activities, manpower, equipment, and materials.
• Conduct pre-task planning and daily safety meetings.
• Monitor trench safety, excavation procedures, and shoring practices.
• Collaborate with Superintendents, Project Managers, Surveyors, and trades to maintain schedules.
• Track production quantities and provide daily labor/equipment usage reports.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality and specs.
• Maintain documentation including timecards and safety records.
• Promote a positive team environment and Ames Construction culture.
