Job summary

Ames Construction is a full-service, heavy civil and industrial contractor building critical infrastructure. This Pipe Foreman role leads underground utility crews on heavy civil projects, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time execution.

The position requires strong leadership, OSHA knowledge, and experience with trenching, grading, and utility installations. Projects are nationwide, with travel to site locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of underground utility construction experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years leading pipe crews or foreman-level experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and practices.
  • Familiar with heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of trenching, excavation, grading and utility construction methods.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work with power and non-power tools.
  • Physical ability to sit/stand, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in construction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Instill Safety as a top priority.
  • Lead, direct, and motivate pipe crews in underground utility installations.
  • Interpret and execute work per project plans, specs, grades, and standards.
  • Coordinate daily crew activities, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity.
  • Conduct pre-task planning and daily safety meetings with crew members.
  • Monitor trench safety and proper shoring practices.
  • Work with Superintendents, PMs, surveyors, and trades to maintain schedules.
  • Track production quantities and provide daily reports on labor and materials.
  • Inspect completed work to meet quality standards and project specs.
  • Maintain documentation including timecards and daily logs.
