Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Pick up & Delivery Supervisor to lead a team of drivers and ensure timely, safe, and cost-efficient shipments within the local operation. The role focuses on operational excellence, teamwork, and OD’s technology-enabled monitoring.

Responsibilities include supervising drivers, coordinating schedules, and maintaining OSHA/DOT compliance while delivering high-quality service outcomes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; some college preferred.
• 2 years of operations experience in transportation is desirable.
• Supervisory experience is preferred for leadership responsibilities.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety practices is expected.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Familiarity with OD’s systems and processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise drivers and coordinate pickups and deliveries to optimize efficiency.
• Monitor and enforce safety standards for the team on a daily basis.
• Schedule driver work and time off requests to meet objectives.
• Collaborate with Operations Manager and Service Center leadership to align goals.
• Provide analyses and suggestions to improve operational performance.
• Complete freight movement forms and use OD’s technology systems.
• Communicate schedules and updates to drivers, customers, and staff.
