Job summary

The Mount Sinai Health System seeks a Staff Nurse on the PICC Insertion Team at Mount Sinai Morningside for full-time day shift, 11 am–9 pm, with every other weekend. Provides comprehensive nursing care, assessments, planning and coordination within the care team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, updating care plans, discharge planning, patient education, and supporting new staff.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred; ADN considered with relevant experience.
• Relevant clinical competence in area of nursing practice assigned.
• 1 year ICU nursing experience or 2 years Stepdown/Telemetry RN experience preferred.
• Licensed and registered to practice as a professional nurse in New York State.
• BLS certification from AHA required.
• ACLS certification from AHA required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts nursing assessment based on interview, examination and records review.
• Ensures patient progress is reflected in progress notes and revised care plans.
• Discharge planning consistent with patient status and inter-departmental communication.
• Communicates information to patients based on their level of understanding.
• Supports orientation of new staff members by observing professional behaviors and acting as a preceptor.
• Functions as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers.
• Patient care assignments reflect awareness of patient needs and staff skill levels.
• Organizes provision of care to meet priority patient and unit needs.
• Communicates patient/unit status requiring intervention to leadership.
• Participates in development of other staff members.
