Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking a Staff Nurse on the PICC Insertion Team for a full-time day shift (11am–9pm) with every other weekend. You will assess, plan and intervene in patient care, document progress and contribute to discharge planning as part of a designated care team.

Required: NY State RN license, BLS and ACLS, BSN preferred (ADN acceptable with relevant experience), and ICU/telemetry experience as noted.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred; ADN acceptable with relevant experience or active matriculation in BSN if approved by Chief Nursing Officer or designee.
• New York State RN license (active)
• BLS certification from AHA is required.
• ACLS certification from AHA is required.
• 1 year ICU nursing experience or 2 years' Stepdown/Telemetry RN experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments based on interview, examination, observation and records review.
• Document patient progress, update care plans and reflect changes in notes.
• Perform discharge planning aligned with patient status and inter-departmental communication.
• Communicate information to patients based on readiness to learn.
• Support orientation of new staff by acting as a preceptor and resource.
• Serve as a mentor for students and volunteers.
• Assign patient care considering patient needs and staff skill levels.
• Coordinate care with leadership and other disciplines.
• Promote collaborative practice reflecting nursing goals and departmental philosophy
