Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System in New York, NY seeks a Staff Nurse for the PICC Insertion Team. The role focuses on comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, and responsive discharge planning within a collaborative nursing unit.

Ideal candidates will have ICU or telemetry experience, an RN license in NY, and BLS/ACLS certifications. The position is full-time with a day shift (11am-9pm) at Mount Sinai Morningside.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred; ADN with relevant experience considered.
• 1 year ICU RN experience or 2 years Stepdown or Telemetry RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessment based on interview, examination, observation, and review of records of the patient.
• Ensure that the patient’s progress is reflected in progress notes and revised care plans.
• Perform discharge planning consistent with the patient’s status and inter‑departmental communication.
• Communicate information to the patient based on their level of awareness and readiness to learn.
• Support orientation of new staff members by providing feedback and acting as a preceptor.
• Function as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers.
• Manage patient care assignments reflecting patient needs and personnel skill levels.
• Organize provision of care to meet priority needs of patients and unit.
• Communicate condition of patients requiring additional intervention to leadership.
• Participate in the development of other staff members.
