Job Summary

The Geisinger Heart & Vascular Institute seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the Division of Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiothoracic Surgery in Danville, Pennsylvania.

Job Duties

• Manage and assist in the operation of the pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery inpatient and outpatient service.
• Collaborate with the surgeon to schedule, evaluate, diagnose, and treat cardiac surgical patients in the adult cardiac ICU, PICU, and NICU.
• Provide phone coverage for established patients and families.
• Surgical experience is preferred but not required.
• Involvement in research is offered but not required for interested candidates.
• The candidate will report to the Director of Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgery and work in a team setting with the surgeon and nurse navigator.

The successful Physician Assistant candidate will work under the supervision of the surgeon and must have an ARC-PA (or predecessor organization) certification, current NCCPA certification or eligibility, and Pennsylvania State licensure.

The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will collaborate with the surgeon and must hold an approved Nurse Practitioner's degree or be eligible to work with the relevant patient populations and settings, along with Pennsylvania State licensure.

Position Details

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant studies (Required), Master's Degree in Physician Assistant studies (Preferred).

Experience: Relevant experience preferred.

Certifications and Licenses: Certified Physician Assistant through NCCPA; Basic Life Support Certification.
