Job summary

Swain Community Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapist to join our outpatient rehabilitation team. The role offers a 2-year sign-on commitment and weekday daytime schedules to help patients achieve optimal outcomes across multiple locations.

You will assess, plan, and implement individualized PT programs, supervise staff, and contribute to a collaborative clinical environment focused on compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy is required and North Carolina licensure is mandatory.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience in physical therapy preferred.
• ASLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patient condition.
• Establish a plan of care involving the patient according to capabilities and desires.
• Design and carry out individualized physical therapy programs to improve function and reduce pain.
• Perform therapy interventions using standard PT techniques appropriate for patient age and condition.
• Direct and supervise PT aides, students, and support staff; assess competence and communication channels.
• Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices as needed.
• Identify and document goals, progress, and plans for reevaluation.

Join our rehabilitation team with the opportunity to work in one of our three outpatient locations and/or an acute care hospital with 48 beds. Our featured hospital units include medical surgical, same day surgery, intensive care unit, progressive care unit, emergency department and women's services. At Swain Rehabilitation, we value excellent patient care that ensures optimal outcomes, a collaborative team environment and a culture of respect. We employ a variety of specialty trained clinicians and feature one‑on‑one patient care. We offer flexibility that may include non‑traditional schedules to best meet patient and employee needs.

How you’ll contribute

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
• Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.
• Plans, prepares and carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
• Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
• Directs and supervises physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel. Assesses competence, delegates specific tasks, and establishes channels of communication.
• Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommend modifications.
• Identifies and documents goals, anticipated progress and plans for reevaluation.

What we’re looking for

Must have a bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy and possess a North Carolina Physical Therapy License. Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• ASLS certification preferred.
