Job summary

Swain Community Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a compassionate Physical Therapist to join our rehabilitation team. You’ll perform initial and ongoing assessments, design plans of care, and deliver evidence-based therapy in acute care and outpatient settings across our facilities.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy and a North Carolina PT license; BLS within 30 days, ACLS/PALS within six months; 1 year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy and North Carolina PT license.
• BLS required within 30 days; ACLS and PALS within six months.
• One year of experience preferred; ASLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient’s condition.
• Establishes a plan of care and collaborates with patient on goals.
• Carries out individually designed programs to improve function and reduce pain.
• Directs and supervises PT assistants and other staff.
• Evaluates prosthetic/orthotic devices and documents progress.

Join our rehabilitation team with the opportunity to work in one of our 3 outpatient locations and/or an acute care hospital with 48 beds. Our featured hospital units include medical surgical, same day surgery, intensive care unit, progressive care unit, emergency department and women's services. At Swain Rehabilitation, we value excellent patient care that ensures optimal outcomes, a collaborative team environment and a culture of respect. We employ a variety of specialty trained clinicians and feature one-on-one patient care. We offer flexibility that may include non-traditional schedules to best meet patient and employee needs.

How you'll contribute

An Acute Care and/or Outpatient Rehab Physical Therapist who excels in this role:

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
• Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.
• Plans, prepares and carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
• Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
• Directs and supervises physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel. Assesses competence, delegates specific tasks, and establishes channels of communication.
• Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommend modifications.
• Identifies and documents goals, anticipated progress and plans for reevaluation.

What we're looking for

Must have a bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy and possess a North Carolina Physical Therapy License. Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• ASLS certification preferred
