Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Physical Plant Manager for the Lincoln Tunnel. This leadership role oversees maintenance, structural integrity, environmental and waste management, sanitation, and construction programs, while driving Major Works Programs and coordinating with the PABTR.

The position directly supervises the Assistant Physical Plant Manager and a 92-person Maintenance Unit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• At least 5 years of demonstrated management or supervisory experience in a maintenance or construction environment.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
• Applicants must meet all performance and attendance standards and have completed all probationary periods.

Responsibilities

• Direct a wide variety of 24/7 maintenance activities.
• Supervise Maintenance staff and review contracts and related reports.
• Identify facility improvements and direct capital projects with Asset Management and Engineering staff.
• Prepare and manage the Physical Plant Unit’s budget ($26M in 2026) and oversee overtime within the budget.
• Maintain Facility assets and develop Asset Component and Spare Parts hierarchy.
• Lead security initiatives for the facility.
