Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Physician Assistant to deliver comprehensive spine and musculoskeletal evaluations in an outpatient setting. The role collaborates with spine surgeons, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and appropriate triage.

You will educate patients on spine health and non-opioid pain management while documenting progress in real time. Full-time position in Austin, TX within Ascension Seton Health Center - Lamar.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 1 month from hire date.
• NCCPA certification obtained prior to hire date.
• Texas Medical Board PA license obtained prior to hire date.
• Texas PA Board certification obtained prior to hire date.
• Advanced Life Support preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive spine and musculoskeletal evaluations to establish accurate diagnoses and build personalized, conservative treatment plans.
• Collaborate with orthopedic spine surgeons, physical therapists, and interdisciplinary teams for seamless care and triage.

• Document encounters and care progression in real time to maintain high-integrity medical records.

• Collaborate closely with orthopedic spine surgeons, physical therapists, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure seamless continuity of care and appropriate surgical or rehabilitative triage.
• Educate patients and their support networks on spine health, lifestyle ergonomics, and non-opioid pain management strategies to empower sustained recovery and prevent re-injury.
• Document clinical encounters and care progression in real time to maintain transparent, high-integrity medical records that protect patient safety and optimize team communication.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certified Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Texas Medical Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Physician Assistant credentialed from the Texas Physician Assistant Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Preferred Credential(s):
  • Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program. Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience

• 1 year of experience preferred.
