Glendale Unified School District is seeking individuals to provide instructional assistance within the Physical Education Program. These are anticipated substitute (temporary/as-needed) positions that are part-time (9.25 months/yr and 3-6 hours per day) across district sites in Glendale, La Crescenta, or Montrose.
Duties include supervising students, assisting with equipment handling, leading warm-up and workouts, refereeing activities, and performing clerical tasks.
Provides instructional assistance to students in the Physical Education Program.

CURRENT VACANCIES: This recruitment will be used to fill anticipated substitute (temporary/as-needed) positions. Substitute employees are paid a fixed hourly rate at the sixth step. All positions are part-time (9.25 mos/yr and 3-6 hours per day). Assignments may be in any part of the district boundaries (Glendale, La Crescenta or Montrose). Based on the immediate and future needs of the district, the same recruitment may also be used to fill permanent positions as opportunities become available.

The listed salary rate represents the first and last steps of the salary range. Substitute employees are paid a fixed hourly rate.
After an offer of employment a candidate must submit proof of freedom from tuberculosis. Also required after an offer, the candidate must complete a pre-employment physical examination and obtain fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (district-paid). The onboarding process includes legally mandated training(s) and reference checks. In addition, pursuant to Senate Bill 848 (SB848), the district is required to conduct reference checks that include inquiry into whether the applicant has ever been the subject of a credible complaint, investigation, or disciplinary action related to child abuse, sexual misconduct, or sexual harassment.

A review of applicants' experience and qualifications will be conducted. Based on that evaluation, a limited number of top-qualifying applicants whose background and qualifications best meet the current needs of the District will be invited to participate in the next step of the examination process. The examination may include a performance test and will include a qualifications appraisal interview. Qualified candidates will be provided with more details prior to the start of the examination process.
