Job summary

Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, NY seeks a part-time Technologist to ensure safety in studios and assist with equipment, darkroom, and computer labs. You will work with faculty and students, providing orientations and technical help while maintaining facilities and documentation.

Responsibilities include operating specialized gear, updating equipment software, and supporting open studio hours. Experience with photography facilities and related software is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of post-secondary education at an accredited institution, plus related photographic experience; OR Associates' degree with 5 years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team of department technologists to assist faculty and students with safe and appropriate equipment, darkroom, studio and computer lab usage.
• Conduct orientations for students using photography facilities and provide technical assistance as needed.
• Respond to questions concerning equipment and material use during classroom or lab sessions.
• Set up and operate media equipment (e.g., digital projectors) for classroom and lab sessions.
• Facilitate open studio operations and guide student workers as needed.
• Prepare, operate and maintain complex, specialized equipment and materials.
• Maintain department classrooms, darkroom and computer labs for safety and usefulness.
• Create clear, accurate technical documentation and signage for labs and equipment.

Education
