Job summary

Purchase College, SUNY is seeking a Photography Instructional Support Manager to oversee facilities across darkrooms, studios, digital labs, and galleries. You will partner with faculty to support the curriculum, ensure safety, and manage procurement and equipment.

The role requires multisite coordination, supervisory experience, and a commitment to accessible learning in a busy art and design environment on campus in Purchase, NY. This is a full-time on-site position with benefits.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in traditional darkroom, non-silver, large format, and digital photography techniques and practices.
• Three or more years of technical support experience preferred.
• Two or more years preferred managing a photo studio or equivalent relevant experience, including procurement protocols and tracking expenditures; facilities, operations, maintenance, space and equipment administration; coordinating schedules and projects in educational or research environments; health and safety compliance; supervisory experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituencies.
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• BFA in photography or related field required.

Responsibilities

• Manage photography facilities and support teaching, learning, creation, and presentation of lens-based art in studio programs.
• Handle account management, procurement, and inventory control of materials and equipment.
• Maintain facilities, calibration and repairs of analog and digital equipment; plan facility upgrades; supervise student workers.
• Support demonstrations and lessons for safe use of photography; interface with other study areas relying on Photo facilities.
