Job summary

The Photo Team at Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a process engineer to establish and maintain world-class process/equipment and drive yield enhancements. You will identify complex problems and implement solutions, with responsibilities spanning process qualification, data analytics, SOP updates, and cross-functional communication.

Candidates should hold a BS or MS in a related engineering field, have scripting experience, and be comfortable in a 24x7 FAB environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Computer Science with 3.0 GPA or better for new grads.
• Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent language.
• Understanding of statistical methods and Change Point Management.
• Understanding of Lean, TPS, or 5S principles.
• Structured problem-solving (8D, 7-step, etc.).
• Experience with software data analysis tools (Spotfire, JMP, Matlab, etc.).
• Ability to wear cleanroom suit and PPE, and lift <35lbs in FAB environment and sit at a computer terminal.
• Vision–exposure to yellow lights and audible alarms.
• Potential to work with hazardous chemicals.
• Ability to support and/or work shift duties in a 24x7 manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring wafer fabrication process by responding to inline issues and dispositions of production wafers.
• Qualifying wafer fabrication processes on new tools.
• Coordinating the scheduling of process qualifications and equipment downtime with manufacturing or equipment engineering.
• Using software to analyze data, identify trends to make decisions about processing product.
• Making adjustments when process parameters are exceeded and monitoring parameters when tools return from maintenance.
• Executing inline changes (CPM) to the process or equipment.
• Communicating technical information within the department through presentations.
• Continuously revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Developing improved processes to increase capability.
