Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a phlebotomist to perform venipunctures, heel sticks, and finger sticks, including instruction on specimen collection. Responsibilities include processing specimens, maintaining clean work areas, and providing lab support such as order entry and registration.

Mentorship of students may be required. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and phlebotomy training; six months’ phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Phlebotomy training.
• Six months’ phlebotomy experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Collects and processes patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures and within expected timeframes both on and off site as required.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the work area and adequate supplies for efficient laboratory operations.
• Performs laboratory support duties (e.g., order entry, registration, specimen receiving, etc.) to ensure efficient operations.
• May mentor students in phlebotomy utilizing AHN policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
