Job summary

Allegheny Health Network phlebotomy role involves performing venipunctures, heel and finger sticks, and processing patient specimens in line with lab policies. You will maintain a clean work area and provide adequate supplies to support efficient operations, including on-site and off-site activities.

The position may include order entry, registration and specimen receiving duties to ensure smooth workflow, with opportunities to mentor students in phlebotomy per WPAHS policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy training required.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on work location.
• Certification as a phlebotomist preferred.
• 6 month phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects and processes patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures and within expected timeframes both on and off site as required.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the work area and adequate supplies for efficient laboratory operations.
• Performs laboratory support duties (e.g., order entry, registration, specimen receiving, etc.) to ensure efficient operations.
• May mentor students in phlebotomy utilizing WPAHS policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
