Job summary

SGMC Health, located at the Main Campus in the Phlebotomy department, seeks a phlebotomist to obtain and process patient specimens. You will ensure correct patient identification and accurate data entry for physician orders and billing, while adhering to lab policies.

Responsibilities include transporting specimens, representing the lab to customers, and performing non-routine support tasks under supervision. A CPR cert and prior phlebotomy experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience or medical assisting training preferred; phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Competence in phlebotomy, basic office skills, and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and process specimens from inpatients and outpatients per SGMC Health policy.
• Enter lab requests, patient demographics and billing information accurately in the Lab system and HBOC.
• Transport specimens to the Laboratory using SGMC Health Lab vehicles.
• Act as a Public Relations representative from the Laboratory to customers.
• Perform non-routine departmental support activities as directed by Supervisor.
