Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform routine blood collection across all ages under supervision of the Laboratory leadership. The role includes duties in specimen processing and receiving areas and delivering care appropriate to patients’ ages.

The successful candidate will have completed a vocational phlebotomy program or have three months of experience, and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a vocational program in phlebotomy or three months experience.
• HS Diploma, GED or Certificate required.
• Strong communication and patient interaction abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine blood collection on all age groups including neonates and infants.
• Demonstrate knowledge to function in Specimen Processing and Receiving area of the Laboratory.
• Provide care appropriate to the age of patients in assigned area.

Required Qualifications

• Require graduate of a vocational program in phlebotomy or three (3) months experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer demonstrated knowledge of all relevant computer skills as needed for patient ID system and specimen processing functions.
• Prefer demonstrated ability to interact successfully with patients, staff and other healthcare providers and excellent communication skills.
• Prefer the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Mandatory Education

HS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate

FDL: Valid Driver's License
