Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System in Venice, FL seeks a Phlebotomist to perform routine blood collections across age groups, including neonates and infants, under supervision in the Laboratory.

You will assist in Specimen Processing and Receiving and apply care appropriate to each patient’s age.

Strong communication and accurate specimen handling are essential; a vocational phlebotomy program or 3 months experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a vocational program in phlebotomy or three months experience.
• Prefer demonstrated knowledge of computer skills for patient ID system and specimen processing functions.
• Prefer demonstrated ability to interact successfully with patients, staff and other healthcare providers and excellent communication skills.
• Prefer the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of Manager, Preanalytical Laboratory Services and Phlebotomy Supervisors, performs all duties of Phlebotomist responsibilities including routine blood collection on all age groups to include neonates and infants. In addition, demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to function in Specimen Processing and Receiving area of the Laboratory. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients' in assigned area.

Required Qualifications

• Require graduate of a vocational program in phlebotomy or three (3) months experience.

Preferred Qualifications
