Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Phlebotomist in the Laboratory department. You will perform routine blood collection for patients across all age groups, including neonates and infants, while supporting specimen processing and receiving.

The role requires a phlebotomy program or related experience and a high school diploma or equivalent. Background screening is part of employment requirements for care providers.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a vocational phlebotomy program or have at least 3 months of phlebotomy experience.
• High school diploma, GED or certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine blood collection on all age groups, including neonates and infants.
• Demonstrate knowledge to assist in Specimen Processing and Receiving in the Laboratory.
• Provide age-appropriate care to patients in the assigned area.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of Manager, Preanalytical Laboratory Services and Phlebotomy Supervisors, performs all duties of Phlebotomist responsibilities including routine blood collection on all age groups to include neonates and infants. In addition, demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to function in Specimen Processing and Receiving area of the Laboratory. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients’ in assigned area.

Required Qualifications

• - Require graduate of a vocational program in phlebotomy or three (3) months experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• - Prefer demonstrated knowledge of all relevant computer skills as needed for patient ID system and specimen processing functions.
• - Prefer demonstrated ability to interact successfully with patients, staff and other healthcare providers and excellent communication skills.
• - Prefer the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Mandatory Education

HS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate

Preferred License and Certs

• FDL: Valid Driver's License
