Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Phlebotomist Tech II who will perform routine blood collection for patients of all ages, including neonates and infants. The role also covers specimen processing and receiving in the Laboratory and patient registration in assigned areas.

The candidate must have at least 1 year of phlebotomy experience and national certification, with ongoing active status. HS diploma or GED required; a valid driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum 1 year phlebotomy experience with all age groups.
• Must hold national phlebotomy certification and keep it current.
• Preferred: strong patient interaction, customer service, and communication skills.
• Preferred: basic computer skills for patient ID and specimen processing.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing all duties of Phlebotomist Tech II including routine blood collection on all age group including neonates and infants. In addition, demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to function in specimen processing and receiving area of the Laboratory. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients in assigned area. Demonstrates competency in registration of patients and specimens.

Required Qualifications

• Require a minimum of one (1) year of phlebotomy experience with all age groups.
• Require Phlebotomy certification with a national agency. Must be kept current and active.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer demonstrated ability to interact successfully with patients, staff and other healthcare providers.
• Prefer demonstrated ability to handle customer service questions and effective communication skills.
• Prefer demonstrated knowledge of all relevant computer skills as needed for patient ID system and specimen processing functions.

Mandatory Education
