Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Lab Support Tech I to greet patients, perform phlebotomy procedures, and support lab operations. Responsibilities include specimen collection, receiving, registering samples, and computer-based test ordering, with a mix of duties across departments.

This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and preferred phlebotomy training. Flexibility with shift timing is involved in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Phlebotomy training preferred.
• ASCP certification or eligibility preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Computer and keyboard proficiency.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Specimen Collection across age groups using venipuncture techniques.
• Specimen Receiving, labeling and prioritizing in computer system.
• Maintain organized work area and restock supplies.
• Register courier-delivered specimens and troubleshoot printers.
• Order tests accurately using hospital information systems and test dictionaries.
• Answer and transfer calls courteously; ensure coverage for incoming calls.
