Job summary

Blanchard Valley Health System is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist to perform daily blood collection in an office setting. You will verify patient identity, label specimens, and ensure specimen integrity to support accurate test results.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team, with attention to confidentiality and age-specific care requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of clinical laboratory functions or medical terminology.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet BVHS fleet policy.
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
• Organized, able to prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer focus with strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate care per policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily phlebotomy duties in an office setting.
• Identify patients and label specimens correctly to ensure test integrity.
• Handle difficult draws and document deviations from standard procedure.
• Prioritize collection and delivery of specimens to the lab.
• Maintain phlebotomy supplies and maintain a neat workspace.
• Perform Point of Care testing when appropriate.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
• Communicate with patients, physicians, and staff respectfully and clearly.
• Provide age-appropriate care and comply with safety policies.
• Support office leadership with duties such as supply ordering and cross training.
