Job summary

Blanchard Valley Health System is seeking a phlebotomist to perform daily blood collection and specimen labeling with emphasis on accuracy and patient comfort. You will verify patient identity and ensure specimen integrity while adhering to all safety policies.

Responsibilities include prioritizing stat and routine orders, maintaining supplies, and supporting the laboratory with timely data entry and professional patient interactions. Training in EKGs may be required where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED
• Valid driver's license and ability to provide own transportation
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day phlebotomy duties with accuracy and courtesy.
• Identify patients and label specimens properly to ensure test integrity.
• Perform EKGs when trained, and document deviations from procedures.
• Prioritize collection of stat, urgent, timed, and routine orders.
• Maintain phlebotomy supplies and ensure neat, organized trays.
• Monitor computer systems for requisitions and timing boards.
• Uphold professionalism and patient confidentiality in all interactions.
• Provide clear patient instructions for specimen collection.
• Demonstrate age-appropriate care and adhere to safety policies.
• Punctually attend scheduled shifts and follow attendance policy.
