Job summary

Blanchard Valley Health System is seeking a phlebotomist to perform daily phlebotomy duties in accordance with federal, state, and local standards under the direction of the Laboratory Director. The role requires accurate specimen collection, proper labeling, and strict adherence to patient confidentiality.

The ideal candidate will be organized, able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate strong communication skills with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and transportation to duty sites.
• Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to provide patient-centered care across the age spectrum.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day phlebotomy duties per standards under the Laboratory Director.
• Obtain proper specimens, verify patient identity, and label specimens.
• Handle difficult collections and document deviations in the system.
• Prioritize collection and delivery of routine and urgent orders to the lab.
• Maintain phlebotomy supplies and ensure neat work areas.
• Monitor and use the computer system for batch and requisition management.
• Maintain professionalism and patient confidentiality.
