Job summary

United WestLabs is seeking an experienced phlebotomist to join a collaborative team in Washington. You will perform specimen collection with compassion while supporting fellow phlebotomists to ensure a great patient experience.

The role emphasizes accuracy in requisitions, adherence to infection control, and communication with clients and staff regarding lab tests. A certificate/license in phlebotomy is preferred, with attention to Medicare procedures where applicable.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certificate and license if applicable.
• Able to perform phlebotomy on patients of all ages.
• Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy professionally, competently and with compassion for the patient.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for staff and patients, including proper handling and disposal of specimens as per policy.
• Ensure requisitions are complete with patient demographics, diagnosis, insurance and physician information.
• If Medicare patient, review NCD/LMRP and determine ABN if needed.
• Ensure MSP completion when necessary.
• Accurately collect all specimens to fulfill lab orders.
• Provide clear communication to clients about proper test ordering.
• Keep the draw station stocked with supplies.
• Report performance concerns to supervisor.
• If working in a physician's office, collect specimens for the client lab as required.
