Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Phlebotomy Technician to perform venipuncture, heel, and finger sticks, and assist with non-blood specimen collections. You will collect and process specimens, maintain work area, and support laboratory operations.

Responsibilities include on/off-site collection, sample processing, order entry assistance, and potential mentoring of students in phlebotomy following AHN policies; a high school diploma and phlebotomy training are required, with a preference for

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma or GED.
• Phlebotomy training.
• Six months’ phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Driver’s license may be required depending on work location.
• Background clearance requirements (Act 34/33/73 and FBI fingerprints) as stated by compliance policies.

Responsibilities

• Collects and processes patient specimens per policies; timeframes on/off site as required.
• Maintains clean work area and ensures adequate supplies for efficient operations.
• Performs lab support duties (order entry, registration, specimen receiving) to support operations.
• May mentor students in phlebotomy following AHN policies.
