Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System is seeking a Phlebotomy / Point of Care Coordinator to oversee phlebotomy services and POCT across the system, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care.

The role focuses on identifying improvement opportunities, analyzing performance data, and implementing corrective actions, while collaborating with nursing units, medical staff, and technical coordinators to standardize practices and roll out new testing platforms.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in medical laboratory technology or related science; bachelor’s preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical laboratory experience, preferably in phlebotomy.
  • Certification: ASCP, National Phlebotomy Association, or other approved agency.
  • Must meet CLIA '88 personnel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of phlebotomy and POCT programs.
  • Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA’88, Joint Commission and other standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and update policies, procedures and competency assessments.
  • Coordinate training, competency, and ongoing education for POCT operators and staff.
  • Monitor quality indicators, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead or participate in quality, safety and performance improvement projects.
  • Support pre-analytical quality processes including specimen integrity and workflow optimization.
  • Collaborate with Medical Director and Technical Coordinators on issues.

Education

Associate’s degree in medical laboratory technology or related science
Bachelor’s degree preferred
