Job Description:
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents our company to patients, drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for lab testing following established procedures. The PSR II interacts directly with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence, and explains procedures clearly. This role requires demonstrating leadership, process excellence, and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy. Assignments may include work at a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as needed.
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties confidently, following established practices.
- Verify patient demographic information and initials, including post-venipuncture labeling verification.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Job Requirements:
- Provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Be flexible and available for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Adhere to all policies, including dress code and safety procedures.
- Exercise good judgment and make decisions based on established procedures.
- Have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
- Travel to multiple locations with flexible hours, including coverage at Patient Service Centers and in-office locations.
- Handle multiple priorities efficiently in a high-volume setting.
- Maintain superior customer focus and communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and patients.
- Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience:
- At least three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Preferably two years in a Patient Service Center environment.
- Customer service experience in retail or service sectors preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
Additional Details:
- Reliable transportation to work sites is required; public transportation is not considered reliable.
- Must be punctual, available for scheduled shifts, and stay for the entire shift.
- Excessive absenteeism or tardiness may lead to termination.
- Verify commute times to ensure a 20-25 minute travel window to the worksite.
