Title: Phlebotomy - Phlebotomist II

Location: Spartanburg, SC

Duration: 6 Months

Shift/Time Zone: Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 12:00 pm

Job Description:
  1. The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) interacts directly with patients, drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for lab testing following established practices. The role involves creating a trusting environment, explaining procedures, and demonstrating leadership behaviors focused on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy. Assignments may vary between doctor's offices, patient service centers, or other locations as needed.
  2. Perform daily activities accurately and punctually under the supervision of the area supervisor.
  3. Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  4. Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing confidently, adhering to established procedures.
  5. Verify patient demographic information and initials, including post-venipuncture signature, to ensure proper labeling and identification.
  6. Maintain required records and documentation.
  7. Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Job Requirements:
  1. Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  2. Work independently with minimal supervision.
  3. Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  4. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
  5. Adherence to all policies and procedures, including dress code, safety, and guiding principles.
  6. Good judgment and decision-making based on established procedures.
  7. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record if applicable.
  8. Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.
  9. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  10. Superior customer focus and effective communication skills with peers, supervisors, and patients.
  11. Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
  3. Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience:
  1. At least three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  2. Preferred: Minimum two years in a Patient Service Center environment.
  3. Experience in customer service within retail or service sectors preferred.
  4. Keyboard/data entry experience.
Additional Job Details:
  1. Candidate must have reliable transportation to the worksite; public transportation or rideshare services are not considered reliable. Must be punctual, available for scheduled shifts, and stay for the entire shift. Excessive absenteeism or tardiness may lead to termination.
  2. Verify commute time to ensure within a 20-25 minute travel window to the work location.
