Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately. Treat all customers in a courteous manner.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures. Explains venipuncture and specimen collection clearly and calmly.
• Disposes of blood or biohazard fluids and contaminated sharps per laws and policies.
• Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into computer systems with high accuracy.
• Matches requisition forms to specimens; labels, centrifuges, freezes specimens as required.
• Packages specimens for transport and stores samples per required temperatures; maintains specimen integrity.
• Maintains daily records and PSC/IOPST logs; assists with monthly statistics and data.
• Performs basic clerical duties and electronic data entry; approves time in attendance software.
• Communicates issues to supervisor for resolution; contributes to a positive work climate.
• Keeps facilities neat, clean, and in good repair; reports maintenance needs.
