Responsibilities

• The Phlebotomist collects specimens (blood, urine, culture) per physician order while ensuring specimen integrity.
• Enters patient demographics for registration and order entry; resolves unusual test orders by contacting lab staff.
• Ensures insurance eligibility and authorizations; collects copays/deductibles; refers to Financial Counselors when needed.
• Maintains excellent customer service; communicates clearly and appropriately with all customers.
• If bleeding times are performed, adheres to CLIA requirements for moderate complexity testing.
