Job summary

Frederick Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect specimens (blood, urine, and culture) with strict adherence to patient safety and specimen integrity. You will enter demographics, verify eligibility, and handle payments at the point of service while maintaining excellent customer service.

The role requires proficiency in communicating with diverse patients and staff, ability to multitask, and compliance with CLIA/moderate complexity testing when applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; phlebotomy course preferred.
• Current BLS/CPR per site policy for new hires.
• Phlebotomy program certification preferred.
• Current valid driver's license may be required per location.
• Previous phlebotomy and customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens (blood, urine, or culture) per physician's order, ensuring specimen integrity and patient safety.
• Enter patient demographics for registration and order entry; resolve unusual test orders by contacting staff.
• Verify insurance eligibility and authorizations; collect copays and coinsurance at the point of service; refer to Financial Counselors when needed.
• Communicate effectively with customers and coworkers; maintain high standards of customer service and appropriate tone.
• If bleeding times are required, comply with CLIA qualifications for moderate complexity testing.
