Job summary

Grady Health System is seeking a Lead Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture, micro-collection, and routine testing while ensuring quality, timeliness, and proper documentation in the LIS. The role includes staff scheduling, training, and supervision to maintain efficient laboratory operations.

Responsibilities cover specimen handling, urinalysis, and POC testing as defined by the department, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and effective communication across clinical teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of hospital-based phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician required by a national certifying body.
• Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail in specimen handling.

Responsibilities

• Manages shift schedule and assigns staff according to department needs.
• Practices Universal Precautions at all times.
• Performs specimen collection and micro-collection per CLSI guidelines and documents in LIS.
• Communicates effectively with clinical staff and works with minimal supervision.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
