Job summary

Grady Health System in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Lead Phlebotomist to oversee venipuncture and micro-collection, ensure quality and timely processing, and manage staff assignments. You will perform waived and point-of-care testing, document results in LIS, and supervise phlebotomy staff and training.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, and certification as a Phlebotomy Technician. Prior hospital experience and strong teamwork are preferred in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Must have relevant phlebotomy experience and knowledge of LIS documentation.
• Strong ability to train and mentor staff is preferred.
• Excellent communication with clinical teams and leadership is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead phlebotomist responsibilities: manage shift schedules, assign staff, monitor workload, train new employees and students, and restock supplies.
• Perform venipuncture and micro-collection, and conduct waived and POC testing and urinalysis as defined by the department.
• Document collection data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and ensure accurate specimen handling and transport.
• Adhere to CLSI guidelines and related SOPs; maintain quality and timeliness of specimen collection.
• Communicate effectively with clinical staff and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
