Job summary

Grady Health System in Atlanta seeks a Lead Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and micro-collection, manage specimen handling, and document collection in LIS. The role includes waived and Point-of-Care testing and urinalysis as defined by the department.

You will schedule and train staff, ensure coverage, and report to the Phlebotomy Lab Manager. A High School Diploma or GED is required; certification as a Phlebotomy Technician is mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification as Phlebotomy Technician from NHA, NPCE, NCCT, AMT or ASCP required.

Responsibilities

• Manages shift schedule: creates and assigns workload and trains new staff.
• Practices universal precautions 100% of the time.
• Performs specimen collection and micro-collection per CLSI guidelines and documents data in LIS.
• Communicates effectively with clinical staff and works independently to ensure tasks are completed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
