Job summary

GBMC HealthCare seeks a Phlebotomy Lab Assistant to perform phlebotomy and accessioning, providing lab information and reports to customers. Schedule is Monday–Friday 8:30 AM–5:30 PM with weekend rotation (5:00 AM–1:30 PM). Requires 6 months of phlebotomy and accessioning experience and a High School education.

Training in donor screens and safety procedures provided. Excellent communication and computer skills needed; ability to calm anxious patients and work with staff and students.

Qualifications

• HS diploma required.
• 6 months phlebotomy experience or 6 months accessioning experience.
• Training/co-working supervision provided.

Responsibilities

• Extracts blood from patients using aseptic venipuncture.
• Document all phlebotomy rounds accurately.
• Enter patient demographics, orders, and accessioning data.
• Prepare and process specimens for testing (labeling, measuring, aliquoting, centrifuging).
• Distribute and retrieve specimens to/from labs.
