Job summary

GBMC is seeking a Phlebotomy Lab Assistant to perform blood collection, accessioning, and specimen processing under supervision. The role includes documentation, donor screening, and maintaining specimen integrity across all steps of the pre-analytical process.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM with weekend rotation. Requires high school diploma and 6 months of related phlebotomy or accessioning experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months phlebotomy experience or laboratory accessioning experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and phlebotomy techniques.
• Strong communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Extracts blood from patients using aseptic venipuncture techniques.
• Document all phlebotomy rounds and ensure accuracy of patient and test information.
• Process specimens, label, measure, centrifuge, and distribute to testing areas.
• Enter demographic data and verify orders in the system.
• Ensure patient safety with two identifiers and timely sample transport.
