Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a phlebotomy technician to join our patient-centered team. This non-exempt role involves collecting blood samples, performing EKGs and point-of-care tests in inpatient and outpatient settings.

Requires post-secondary phlebotomy training, BLS certification within 3 months, and flexibility to cover day, evening, or night shifts. Compensation ranges with hours; signing bonus may be available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with phlebotomy training.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of employment.
• Ability to travel to other locations per department needs.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary methods.
• Review physician orders to ensure tests are drawn and medically necessary.
• Prepare ABN for tests not meeting Medical Necessity and obtain signatures.
• Perform EKG, pulse oximetry and point-of-care testing as required.
