Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring a Phlebotomist to collect blood specimens and perform EKGs in Worcester, MA. The role involves venipuncture, capillary collection, and point-of-care testing, with duties spanning specimen processing and patient data registration.

Required: High School graduate with phlebotomy training and BLS within 3 months. Shifts include days, evenings, or nights across a mixed schedule. Signing bonus may be available.

Qualifications

• High School graduate with training in phlebotomy.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy procedures with appropriate specimen collection equipment.
• Reviews physician requisitions to ensure tests meet Medical Necessity and obtains signatures for non-physician tests when required.
• Performs EKG, pulse oximetry and point-of-care testing procedures and performs related quality control and instrument maintenance.
• Processes specimens including centrifugation, pour-off, aliquoting, labeling, and packaging.
• Provides essential patient data and insurance information for registration of specimens; may create registrations in the Hospital ADT system.
