Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Per Diem Phlebotomist to perform specimen collection and processing at in-house and off-site locations. The role involves patient preparation, labeling, and data entry into hospital systems, with emphasis on infection-control and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have phlebotomy experience, a solid clinical laboratory background, and the ability to train new staff while maintaining high quality and timely results.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified phlebotomy technician preferred.
• Experience drawing blood or through approved program.
• Experience in a clinical laboratory environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen collection (blood and non-blood) with proper labeling and handling.
• Enter test orders into HIS/LIS and ABN compliance.
• Process specimens according to established guidelines.
• Maintain safe, clean workspace and follow infection-control policies.
• Perform waived tests and assist other testing platforms.
• Assist in quality control and performance improvement activities.
• Ensure standards for quality, timeliness, and customer service.
• Orient/train new staff.
• Assist in regulatory compliance with all health regulations.
• Answer calls, print reports and provide test results.
• Perform therapeutic phlebotomies.
• Dispatch and manage specimens and slides for referrals and other requests.
