Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a part-time phlebotomy technician to perform specimen collection, labeling, and processing at our Michigan facilities. The role involves patient preparation, data entry into the hospital information system, and adherence to infection-control protocols.

Preference is given to candidates with phlebotomy certification and prior lab experience. Training and on-call duties may be required to support departmental operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certified phlebotomy technician preferred.
• Previous experience drawing blood or phlebotomy training in an approved program preferred.
• Previous experience in a clinical laboratory environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs all specimen collection by phlebotomy from the correct individual at in-house or off-site locations.
• Instructs patients in specimen collection and ensures proper labeling and handling.
• Enter pathology specimens into hospital/lab information systems and manage ABN compliance.
• Maintains infection-control practices and a clean, safe work environment.
• Performs waived tests and assists in other testing platforms under supervision.
• Trains new staff and assists with quality control activities.
• Responds to test requests, prints reports, and communicates results as applicable.
