Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Lab Support Technician I to support provider care teams with reports, data and scheduling functions in the laboratory. The role emphasizes accurate specimen handling and adherence to safety and HIPAA policies.

You will perform specimen collection, transport and referral as required, maintain confidentiality, and deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Successful completion of probationary period required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred Education: College level Chemistry, Biology or other Science courses.
• Preferred Experience: Previous experience in a clinical laboratory
• No active disciplinary actions or active performance improvement plans

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, timely laboratory support for reports, data and scheduling functions.
• Acquire laboratory specimens for testing using safe, accurate, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality.
• Process, transport and refer all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required.
• Complete departmental checklists for the LST I position under supervision.
