Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Colorado seeks a Phlebotomy Technician to support blood collection, specimen processing and lab testing. You will interact with patients professionally, perform phlebotomy procedures, and ensure accurate labeling and routing of specimens.

The role requires familiarity with computer systems, quality/safety protocols and ongoing training. Routine on-site duties include pager/on-call responsibilities as part of the Labor Management Partnership environment.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy training program and successful completion of a phlebotomy externship of at least 80 hours within a four week period within the last year, Or completion of an accredited Phlebotomy training program and two years of previous concentrated phlebotomy experience, Or completion of a Medical Assistant program that includes phlebotomy training and a minimum of six months of concentrated phlebotomy experience within the past three years.

Responsibilities

• Greets, instructs and communicates to all patients in a courteous and professional manner.
• Clearly communicates patient collection instructions.
• Performs waived & moderate complexity lab testing and enters lab results into the computer system.
• Receives and processes specimens from patients and other departments.
• Ensures patient safety using two identifiers and procedural time outs.
