Job summary

Palmetto General Hospital is seeking a phlebotomy technician to perform routine specimen collection, specimen receipt and distribution for the laboratory. You will perform venipuncture and assist in waived testing as requested, supporting Microbiology processing and plating specimens.

The role requires solid communication skills and the ability to work with staff at all levels. A high school diploma and phlebotomy training or certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of laboratory experience and/or completion of phlebotomy training.
• Basic laboratory computer/LIS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens.
• Performs routine technical and clerical functions including specimen registration and billing.
• Assists in Microbiology processing and plating specimens, as requested.
• Will perform waived testing as assigned.
