Job summary

HCA Florida Highlands Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist to perform specimen collection and processing under supervision. The role supports departmental goals for service quality, regulatory compliance, and patient satisfaction.

The position involves venipuncture, specimen labeling, data entry, and basic clerical tasks, with opportunities to contribute to a team-focused environment and patient care excellence.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
• Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Paramedic or EMT certification preferred.
• Vocational/Technical Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens and perform venipuncture and/or finger sticks.
• Prepare specimens for testing and courier processes.
• Register and document orders accurately in the LIS.
• Maintain patient and specimen safety and identify procedures per protocol.
• Support clerical duties such as phones, faxes, and charting as required.
• Adhere to safety, privacy, and security policies.
