Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking a Laboratory Support Technician/Phlebotomist to perform specimen procurement and processing, supporting laboratory operations and PHI protection. The role focuses on phlebotomy, data entry, and efficient handling of specimens to meet turnaround times.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and phlebotomy training; CPT certification is preferred. The role may involve cross-training and providing guidance to other staff in a fast-paced laboratory

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Formal training from an accredited phlebotomy school or medical assistant program is preferred.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification is preferred at hire.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and performs tasks to meet departmental turnaround times.
• Performs data entry and laboratory processes including sterile technique and phlebotomy.
• Processes specimens for laboratory testing and handles specialized samples.
• Acts as a trainer and resource to other Specimen Processor Phlebotomists.
• Performs duties with minimal supervision and solves problems independently.
