Job summary

Atrius Health in Massachusetts seeks a Lab Associate to collect blood and non-blood specimens, provide information on tests, and support laboratory operations. You will verify requisitions, prepare samples, and communicate test instructions to patients in a compassionate manner.

The role requires a High School Diploma/GED, phlebotomy training, and relevant certification or experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and a 40-hour work week with occasional weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program preferred.
• Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification preferred.
• Minimum 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• ACLS may be required based on specialty; BLS is recommended.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and LIS/EMR systems helpful.
• Strong written and verbal communication; solid interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens via venipuncture, finger sticks, or heel sticks.
• Collect non-blood specimens such as urine and swabs.
• Verify test requisitions and correct discrepancies.
• Prepare equipment and label/store specimens for lab processing.
• Identify patients, explain procedures, and ease concerns.
• Perform basic testing and quality control per procedures as needed.
• Report results, assist with clerical tasks, and train interns as needed.
• Maintain neat work area and adhere to PPE and safety policies.
