Job summary

Independence Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy and specimen collection for inpatients and outpatients. You will ensure accurate data entry into the LIS, verify specimens, and maintain compliance with safety protocols.

The role requires completion of a phlebotomy or medical assistant program (or 6 months phlebotomy experience) and a high school diploma or GED, with familiarity in LIS and Microsoft Office preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or higher education.
• Completion of Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant Training Program or 6 months phlebotomy experience.
• Knowledge of coding, basic math, and payer/insurance benefits is preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general office equipment is preferred.
• Medical terminology and specimen knowledge and LIS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy using venous or capillary techniques.
• Accurately collect specimens from inpatients and outpatients.
• Enter orders and specimen data into the LIS.
• Verify patient and specimen identity using two identifiers.
• Deliver specimens to the laboratory in a timely and safe manner.
